One man donated his late wife’s wedding dress to charity, wishing happiness for another. The gown’s new owner was moved to tears after reading the secret note inside.
A U.K. charity shop employee knew instantly this was an extremely special dress. The absolutely stunning 1950’s wedding gown was covered in hand stitched lace; but something else about it caught her eye. Aysha Alton was the one to discover the handwritten note stitched inside.
Wishing wealth on happiness on a new marriage, the heartwarming note brought tears to Alton’s eyes.
“I wish any lady who takes this dress to have a life with her loved one 56 years like I did. [They were] happy years. I was a lucky man to marry a lady like mine,” the note read.
The dress shop desperately wanted to identify the author of the note. Enlisting the help of social media, they were able to track him down. The 85-year-old man wished to remain anonymous but was glad to hear his kind words had such an impact.
One employee had the luxury of sitting down with the 85-year-old to learn more about the dress and its original owner.
“He said this wedding dress has already had a beautiful story as far as he’s concerned and it’s just carrying on its journey,'” the charity shop employee commented.
Touched by the beautiful story surrounding the gown, shop employees placed the dresss on eBay, to be auctioned for charity.
So far, 68 blushing brides have placed bids, forcing the asking price well over $1,000. The grieving husband couldn’t have been happier to see his wife’s beloved gown receive the recognition it deserved.Share on Facebook
