Sometimes, we all make bad choices. Desperation can change a person’s view on what is right and wrong, and when you’re backed into a corner, you sometimes do things that you would never do before.
Jessica Eaves was in the grocery store one day, when she looked down and realized that her wallet was gone. She also noticed that there was a man standing very close behind her in the store. She just knew that he had taken her wallet, and she wanted it back. There wasn’t much in the wallet, only $28 actually, but she wanted her wallet back and she decided to confront the man herself.
Without causing a scene and without calling the police or security of the store, she approached the man and told him that she wanted her wallet back, she knew that he had taken it, and that she would give him a choice. This mother of four is tough, and she told the man, “I’m gonna give you a choice. You can either give me my wallet and I’ll forgive you right now, and I’ll even take you to the front and buy your groceries.” The other option she gave the man was to call the police.
The man then reached inside his sweatshirt and pulled out her wallet. She took the man to the front and bought his groceries. The bill came out to be a little over $27, and included milk, bread, crackers, and cheese. The man then began to cry, and repeatedly told Jessica that he was broke and he had kids, and that he was sorry. He even stated that he was embarrassed. Jessica, who runs a Christian outreach program, says that she knew it had to be a God thing, because she never usually has cash and this time she had just enough to get what the man was trying to get. She runs a Christian Outreach program, and when she saw that the man had taken her wallet, she was reminded of a passage in Luke that states:
“To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either.”
She is now being coined the “Grocery Store Samaritan.” View the video below.
