The Special Moment After Man Who Rescued Injured Swan Gets An Unforgettable Thank You Swan-Hug

The graceful swan hadn’t forgotten the man who rescued her. Years later, she got the chance to say ‘thank you.’

Richard Wiese happened to be at the right place at the right time. Visiting the Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset, England, he witnessed a swan fly into the structure’s chainlink fence.

In a speedy rescue, Richard untangled her wings and feathers from the painful wires. That moment sparked a unique connection between the beautiful bird and her savior.

Once recovered, the swan was brought back to the sanctuary. Neither of them werehappy to be separated but knew they’d see each other again.

Paying a visit to his long lost friend, Richard returned a few short years later. No one expected what happened next.

The man was reunited with the loving swan only to have her elongated neck wrapped around his in a heartfelt hug. It was clear the grateful bird remembered him.

Onlookers were shocked at what they saw. Swans didn’t exactly have the best reputation and were usually described as ‘aggressive’ or ‘territorial.’ This bird was nothing of the sort.

“I pulled it to my chest and somehow it felt comfortable or safe, and within minutes it just surrendered itself. It literally took its neck and wrapped it around mine,” Wiese explained. “Despite the reputation of being “mean”…this swan seemed to know that she was in caring arms.”

The touching reunion was captured on camera and the photos shared with the world. It’s safe to say the pics are worth incredibly more than 1,000 words.

“It’s a wonderful moment when an animal totally trusts you.”
