The Heartfelt Moment This EMT Proposes to the Domestic Violence Survivor He Once Rescued

One woman’s nightmare ended the evening she met him. It’s also the moment her fairy tale love story began.

Cameron Hill was a certified emergency medical technician when he first met Melissa Dohme. They’d both remember that night for years to come.

Three years prior, Dohme was brutally attacked by her former boyfriend, Robert Lee Burton Jr. The man stabbed her more than 30 times before leaving her for dead. Thankfully, he was put behind bars, serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Hill was the paramedic dispatched to the gruesome scene.

“At the time, she was real bloody,” Hill explained. “I, for some reason, didn’t think it was the last time I would see her.”
