Homeless Man Given Winning Lottery Ticket-Woman Said She “Instantly Knew Why She Had Won” the Money

One single mother wins the lottery. She chooses to give it to someone less fortunate, someone that touched her heart.

Sophia Andrade lived in Massachusetts with her beautiful three children. One cold winter evening, the temperature had dropped below zero at an astounding -8 degrees. Sophia had just won $200 on a scratch lottery ticket and wash going to cash in on her winnings.

During her drive, Sophia saw something that broke her heart. Glenn Williams was his name. The elderly gentleman was standing in the frigid weather with a sign that read “anything would help.”

“I pulled over and asked to take him for coffee and something warm to eat,” Sophia said.

After talking to the man for a few moments, Sophia learned Glenn was stuck outside. Without a home for almost three years, he had no where else to go. Almost instantly she had a “light bulb moment.”

“Thats when I knew why God had blessed me with the winnings. I took him to Wareham where i took my winnings and put him up for 3 nights at the Rosewood Motel,” Sophia added.

Those three nights wouldn’t be enough to grant the single mom peace. She decided to go even further and raise money for Williams to help get him back on his feet. She created a GoFundMe account in his name. In the ‘memo’ area, she repeated Glenn’s wise words of “anything helps.”

“I couldn’t believe there’s somebody like her,” Glenn said with tears in his eyes. “She deserves a lot of the credit for where I am right now.”

Sophia was shocked at the immediate response from people within her community. A day after creating the GoFundMe account, Sophia had already raised $5,000. 24 hours later that number was over $20,000.

Glenn received not only the cash gift but other donated goods and services as well. He even managed to get a free haircut and lots of new clothing.

The former homeless man was stunned by everyone that came together to support him.

“There’s a lot of good people in this world,” he said. “I’m overwhelmed with all the help, and I just want to thank everybody.”
