Dillion Workman stood in line, waiting to relay his Christmas wish list to Santa himself. He had no idea his military mother would be the one to hear it instead.
Julie Workman was absolutely ecstatic after being told her request for leave had been granted. A sailor in the U.S. Navy, the woman was finally returning home after a year-long deployment overseas…and just in time for the holidays.
Planning to surprise her 12-year-old son, the mom made a call to Jessica, Dillon’s aunt. The two planned a surprise reunion no one saw coming.
In a ‘lightbulb moment,’ Jessica suggested she take Dillon to a south Florida mall under the guise of ‘taking Christmas photos with Santa.’ It would be the perfect opportunity to surprise the 12-year-old and catch him completely off guard.
After a short discussion with the shops’ administrators, Julie received the approval she needed. The plan was a go! Julie and her nephew made the journey to the shopping center, filled with nerves and excitement; well, Julie at least.
The boy’s mother quietly hid in the background, waiting for the exact moment to pop out in surprise. Sitting on Santa’s lap for a posed picture, Dillon got the shock of a lifetime.
“He didn’t say anything at first,” Julie said. “Then he asked, ‘Where did you come from?'”
Needless to say, the mother and son plan to enjoy some quality time together, “doing the little things and hanging out, stuff most people get to do on a daily basis.”
Watch one family’s Christmas miracle come true in this heartfelt reunion caught on camera!
